The wrongness of the coastline around Thuwal in OSM has annoyed me enough to start doing something about it, so today and yesterday I hiked round a couple of sections of coast. Today's outing in particular may have been a mistake, as I spent rather too long in an overly hot sun. However I did manage to capture a couple of panoramas to stitch, which I'll need to create a decent wallpaper for the wall of cinema displays on my desk.

And now a brief geek interlude.

I've been doing a little OpenStreetMapping of Jeddah. The city has had many of its major routes mapped, and some odd local roads, mostly I suspect those used by visiting OSMers. I'm not entirely helping the fragmented feel of the map by filling in my taxi journeys.

Quite likely, my major contribution here will be the University, which unlike Jeddah doesn't have any aerial imaging. I'm trying to be a bit more systematic up here. My biggest weakness on the map is my lack of Arabic. While I've removed a node which placed the King Abdullah Economic City in the middle of the Aramco labour camp for KAUST, it had a translation into Arabic, and I haven't been able to do the needful for the nodes I've added, most notably the University.
