Crazy early o' clock start. Possibly even before 10.

I use my encyclopedic knowledge of the tube to design my own tighter-connection-than-the-website-allows journey and get to Jodrell Bank an hour earlier than it thinks I can. Note that the Crewe station pub is not swift-half-worthy.

Actually reaching the visitors' centre from the station requires a taxi, and a certain amount of phone tag is required to map from the numbers on the station noticeboard to a real life taxi firm. The first thing you notice approaching the radio telescope is a sign requiring visitors to turn off their mobile phones. The visitors' centre itself is fairly basic. It's equipped with a 3D cinema and a path which allows you to view the Lovell telescope from multiple directions.

Evening finds me in the pub in sunny Manchester with sysadmin types.
